Memorial Day is almost here! Serving as the unofficial start to the summer season, Memorial Day in the Smokies means fun in the sun! Here's how you can make the most of the holiday!

Hike

Be sure to spend some time outdoors this Memorial Day weekend! In the Smokies, the best outdoors activity is hiking. There are more than 800 miles of diverse trails throughout Smoky Mountain National Park. If you're an advanced hiker, then you might want to tackle Mt. LeConte - a legendary local hike with steep inclines and great views. There are also plenty of beginner-friendly hikes, including Laurel Falls and Cataract Falls. Enjoy the River

Cool off this Memorial Day weekend. Spend some time on the water! Whitewater rafting trips are available in class-III and class-IV rapids. No experience is necessary! For a calmer activity, try fly fishing or tubing!

Grab a Burger

Memorial Day and burgers go hand-in-hand. Luckily, there's no shortage of tasty burgers in Gatlinburg! TripAdvisor suggests heading to Smoky Mountain Brewery, but I'll let you make up your mind based on their Best Burgers list. Prefer barbecue for Memorial Day? TripAdvisor has a list of the best barbecue restaurants too!

Explore the Arts Scene

Looking for an indoors activity this Memorial Day? Head over to the unmissable Great Smoky Mountains Arts & Crafts Community! Along this 8-mile loop, you'll find over 100 talented local artisans who specialize in glass blowing, silversmithing, watercolor painting, pottery making and many other creative things.

What do you have planned for Memorial Day? Come to the Smokies and partake in the fun!
